Santa-Coloma de Farners is a small village not far from Girona. It’s one of the favorite training spots for mountain bikers, but it’s also an excellent playground for a gravel ride. The weather is pleasant all year round, making it an excellent alternative to discover other paths around Girona.

You can easily park at the Parc de Sant Salvador. I’ve also seen many vans staying there to enjoy the trails for a couple of days.

This 30-kilometer route is quite physically demanding, with an elevation gain close to 1000 meters. Some sections might be technical, but overall, it’s all rideable. You’ll come across the Santa-Coloma de Farners Castle, where we took shelter during a brief storm. The weather changes very rapidly in this region; you might encounter a 30-minute thunderstorm followed by clear skies for the rest of your ride.
