The access to the gravel trails is quick and easy from the lake. If you prefer to come with your car, there is the possibility to park at the beginning of the gravel trails. The first trails are quite steep to the extent that you may even get overtaken by trail runners! Find your pace and don’t give up, this first part is the toughest.
After getting your heart rate up and warming up your legs, you’ll have some rest on a flatter paths and some sections on the Semnoz road.
You will be immersed in the middle of the forest, which will occasionally offer glimpses of the neighboring peaks in the area.
The last 3-4 kilometers will be on the road to reach the summit of the Semnoz and take a break at the restaurant Les Rochers Blancs, or simply refill your water bottles before starting the descent.
Note: As with any mountain climb outside of summer, make sure to bring a windbreaker for the summit and the descent.
The end of this route is done on the road. I have tried some paths in the descent of Leschaux, but they are way too technical, more suitable for mountain biking than gravel biking. If you know of any gravel descent, feel free to share it in the comments 🙂
